Origin Name:

Native. First discovered in Pok Fu Lam in 1880s by the fathers of the Mission Etrangérès in Hong Kong, who had cut the branches for transplanting.

Stems:
Bark of trunk greyish black. Scar from grafting exists on the lower part of trunk. Occasionally, the rootstock will sprout and blossom as well, causing the potential for two distinct types of flowers being grown on the same individual.

莖:
主幹樹皮灰黑色。樹幹基部有嫁接痕。有時砧木萌蘗並開花，一株樹可長出兩種截然不同的花。

Leaf:

Subleathery in texture. Suborbicular to broadly cordate in outline. Leaf base cordate. Leaf apex shallowly 2-lobed, apex of lobes obtuse. Shaped like sheep hoof.

葉:

近革質，外型近圓形至闊心形，葉基心形，葉端2淺裂，裂片頂端鈍圓，形狀猶如羊的蹄部。

Flower:

• Petals 5, purplish red, subequal, oblanceolate in shape. The upper petal with dark purplish red streaks from the base to the centre.
• Flowering: Nov - Mar of the following year

花:

• 花瓣5片，紫紅色，近等大，倒披針形。最上方的花瓣基部至中央具深紫紅色條紋。
• 花期: 11月 - 翌年3月
