Traffic Control and Car Parking

Traffic management on campus is one of the important duties of campus security to ensure a smooth flow of traffic as well as a safe vehicular access all the times.

Parking on campus is limited to vehicles holding a valid parking permit from the University.  Please refer to Parking for more information. 


Crime Prevention

Various measures are adopted to prevent/fight against crimes on campus:

1.

CCTV cameras and door alarms in strategic locations;

2.

Panic alarms and regular patrols at female washrooms;

3.

Regular patrols by uniformed or plain cloth guards; and

4.

Works Reflective Vest System for contractor workers working on campus.


Extension of Stay on Campus

The opening hours of campus are from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. daily.  For the sake of safety and security control purpose, staff/students staying on campus after 11 p.m. are required to make application to Estates Office (EO) by submitting the “Application for Extension of Stay on Campus” via Students and Staff Services Platform

On-campus Video Shooting and Photo Taking

The University respects the rights and privacy of campus users. Requests for video shooting and photo taking are handled as follows:

Gate Pass for Moving of University Property

To protect the university property, application to EO by using the “Gate Pass for Moving of University Property” (English Version/Chinese Version) is required when moving university equipment/furniture/assets, etc. out of the campus.  The security guard will check and record those properties moving out of the campus as well as information of the movers as required.


Night Escort Service

Staff/students who wish to stay late on campus after 11:30 p.m. can request our night escort service by calling one of our campus security control rooms.  Our guard will accompany staff/students to the campus entrance/exit or to get him/her a taxi home. 

Smart Card/Digital Lock 

Departments/Offices can select and install their own smart card access control system and/or private departmental locks provided that they are in compliance with the University’s guidelines and regulations on Smart Card/Digital Lock.
